Information about Rosacea

Rosacea Explained:
Rosacea (pronounced row-say-sha) is the 5th most common diagnosis by Dermatologists. It is a skin complaint that causes redness and swelling on the face. We have put this information together for you to gain a little more understanding about what rosacea is, and to introduce you to Veinwave (Try viewing our video by clicking about veinwave options in our flash page).
How Does Rosacea Start
Rosacea often starts with blushing, and signs of patchy skin may become visible after exercise or eating spicy foods
Gradually, the symptoms become more frequent and redness in the face may move to the cheeks, forehead, chin, nose, and, in some cases, the ears, chest and back.
As the disease progresses small blood vessels begin to appear on or around the inital site. This is often called 'adult acne', but unlike acne you will not see any signs of blackheads.
When rosacea first appears, it will most likely be subtle in the sense that it will come and go. The symptoms can, however, become more persistent and in the worst cases the skin will not return to its previous normal state. If you think you could be experiencing rosacea, you can seek advice from Veinwave.

The condition rarely repairs itself, and when the the symptoms worsen treatment is required. Recent technological advances come as a great relief to sufferers, with painless, side-effect free treatment now available.
In severe cases of rosacea a condition called rhinophyma (pronounced ryno-fi-ma) may develop. Primarily affecting males, rhinophyma manifests itself as an enlarged red nose with puffy cheeks. Thick bumps can also develop on the lower half of the nose and cheeks.
What else should you know
Doctors do not know what causes rosacea, and people who blush easily may be more likely to get it. Some researchers believe rosacea is a disorder where blood vessels dilate too easily, resulting in the characteristic flushing and redness.
Common triggers for rosacea include: heat (including hot baths), strenuous exercise, sunlight, wind, and very cold temperatures.
Those with rosacea who eat hot or spicy foods and drinks, consume alcohol, have emotional stress, or use topical steroids on the face see a noticeable reaction. Researchers have not established a link between rosacea and bacteria or in the hair follicles, or elsewhere in the body so the cause of rosacea is still unknown.
Treatments
Veinwave is a revolutionary technique designed by vascular surgeons to treat rosacea and other skin complaints. Veinwave treats rosacea with microwaves that heat the vessels using a high frequency energy (a process known as thermo-coagulation). This technique produces immediate results.
