Veinwave™ UK has bolstered its international team by securing the services of former Bioform Medical VP, Sunny Powel. With more than 20 years of experience in leading new product design and development, Sunny will represent Veinwave™ UK stateside as liasion with their US partners.
Medical Innovations was granted 510(k) approval by the Food and Drug Administration in 2009 to sell Veinwave™ machines, which were pioneered by Dr Brian Newman to treat thread veins. Since then, Dr Newman, who has trained more than 500 consultant surgeons worldwide in techniques for cosmetic vein removal and rosacea, has delivered training to doctors at Harvard and John Hopkins universities. Powel will assist in the introduction of Veinwave™ to the US aesthetic market as the only FDA cleared non-invasive and safe treatment of spider veins. Delighted with her new challenge, Sunny commented that “Veinwave™ is a simple procedure which can be performed during a lunch hour with little sign you have been treated. It gives patients an effective option for treating spider veins".
“My primary responsibility is to act as liaison for Veinwave™ UK as it grows and enters the aesthetic market and supports the work of Veinwave™ USA. I have a successful career record of creating driving strategies which boost revenue and solidify company position as market leader. I quickly understand and fluently translate science, detail and technology behind complex products into tangible sales numbers. I plan to assist in expanding Veinwave™ into the aesthetic market, giving more patients and healthcare providers the option of a non-invasive treatment for spider veins and telangiectasia.” Laurence Newman, director of Medical Innovations, added: “The US market is much bigger than the UK and is more focused on facial aesthetics. Sunny’s appointment enables us to continue making our mark in America, ensuring Veinwave™ becomes the gold standard in vein treatment.”
Adam Rubens, MD of Sovereign Medical Health which works in partnership with Medical Innovations, added: “Sunny brings a wealth of experience and skill to our US team. She will be an asset as we continue to strengthen our relationships in this international market.”
